Typically, our editorial procedure consists of five simple steps:
The client submits a “raw text” in a document file to the editors, via email, along with a rough idea of the expected return time.
Using the Track Changes feature of Word, we subject the text to a careful line edit, reviewing any graphics for clarity and correctness of textual components, requesting clarification from the author(s) if necessary, and rewriting passages where needed.
We return the text to the author for review. The author can accept or reject our edits and make additional changes if needed.
After the first round of edits is complete, we generally recommend that the text be sent back to the editors for a second—and usually final—editorial review.
Once the second editorial review is complete, a clean final text is returned to the client for layout, production and distribution.
